Watts Abundant primarily performs amplifier repairs, output relay installations and upgrades. Other capabilities include circuit design, prototype fabrication, mods, production testing, and pc board layout. The image at the upper left corner is a mod I used to do on 400's that were used in PA's.

Repairs are performed on a time and material basis. If any of the output transistors have failed, (the most common failure) all new output transistors will be installed in that channel. Due to the age of these amplifiers, it is often more cost effective to replace the driver board with an upgraded board rather than trying to repair it.

Relay board installation when installed during a repair will cost an additional $145 which includes the board, misc. parts and labor.

Standard labor rate for relay installation in a working amp or other work is $45/hour. Relay installation is about 2 hours.

Requests to repair the 4000 preamp are common. The 4000 has proven to be troublesome. It is based around a motherboard with several daughter boards plugged into it. The connectors on the motherboard are prone to cracked solder joints. A typical 4000 can have upwards of a 100 cracked joints. Consequently it is usually not cost effective to pursue repairing the 4000.
